Triwest Policy Overview

VRC offers addiction treatment and mental health services to TriWest members struggling with addictions to drugs and alcohol or in need of treatment for depression, anxiety and other behavioral health disorders. When you arrive, you’ll undergo a confidential assessment to determine the best way to treat your symptoms and help you address the underlying causes of your addiction. VRC also offers the following services to members of TriWest Healthcare Alliance:

Your recovery starts with medical detox, giving you an opportunity to withdraw from alcohol or drugs under medical supervision. The detox process is much safer when it’s done under the guidance of trained professionals, as our addiction treatment specialists are quick to recognize severe withdrawal symptoms and take steps to address them.

Medical detox typically lasts for seven days, but it may take more or less time depending on your unique circumstances. Every treatment program is completely customized, ensuring you receive the right services for the right length of time.

Our team of therapists, counselors, and addictionologists treat addiction with cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and other approaches. VRC’s drug treatment programs are designed for TriWest Healthcare Alliance members with addictions to cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and prescription drugs. VRC also has treatment programs for patients who have TriWest coverage and need help with alcoholism or dual drug and alcohol addictions.

Addiction is often called a family disease because its effects aren’t limited to the person drinking or using drugs. Alcoholism and drug use can have a negative impact on spouses, children, parents and siblings, especially when they lead to legal problems or the loss of a job. If you have a family history of alcohol or drug addiction, it’s also important to address how that history affects you. At VRC, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to work through these issues with your family members, giving you a chance to start fresh when you leave the treatment center.

As a rehab that accepts TriWest insurance, VRC makes comprehensive aftercare services available to every patient. To support you in your recovery, case managers are available to coordinate these services and make sure you have an outpatient care plan that meets your specific needs. You’ll also have access to legal services, 12-step meetings and ongoing therapy to help you avoid relapse.

Treatment for Mental Health Disorders

If you have TriWest insurance and struggle with depression that hasn’t responded to medications or therapy, you may be able to use your benefits for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). During each TMS session, an electric coil delivers painless magnetic impulses to the area of the brain involved in mood regulation. These magnetic pulses affect the way the brain works, improving mood and easing other depression symptoms.

For patients who haven’t tried antidepressants yet, our staff psychiatrist can prescribe medications to manage depression symptoms. SSRIs, anti-anxiety medications and other prescription drugs are just a few of the options available. The right medication for you depends on many factors, including the severity of your depression symptoms, your medical history and whether you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.

VRC also offers individual therapy, group therapy and EMDR therapy for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder. We specialize in working with active military personnel, police officers, paramedics and other first responders, but anyone with PTSD can benefit from these treatments.

During an individual therapy session, you’ll work with an experienced therapist to determine how traumatic events have affected your life and learn what you can do to process your trauma in a healthy way. In group therapy, patients share their experiences and support each other through each stage of recovery. EMDR, or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, can help you separate your past trauma from the present, which encourages healing and personal growth. Our therapists have helped many veterans with TriWest coverage over the years.
