Bulimia Treatment in Las Vegas
If you or someone you love is caught in a cycle of bingeing and purging, you're not alone, and it is not a matter of willpower. If substance use is tangled up with it too, that does not complicate treatment here. It is exactly what our Las Vegas program is built for.
- The binge-purge cycle treated with its medical risk taken seriously
- CBT-ED and DBT, with staff-supported meals at every level of care
- Co-occurring substance use treated in the same plan, not referred out
- Residential at Corbett, PHP and IOP at Montessouri, in Las Vegas

Recovery is possible
Bulimia thrives in secrecy. Treatment starts with not hiding it anymore.
Bulimia involves cycles of bingeing and compensating for it — through purging, restricting, or other behaviors — often carried alone, with real shame attached. It very often occurs alongside substance use, anxiety, depression, or trauma, and that overlap isn't unusual.
Many people we treat also cycle through periods of restriction alongside the binge-purge pattern. Whatever your specific experience looks like, our team treats the whole picture — not just the behavior that's easiest to name.
The differentiator
Most people we see with bulimia are also facing substance use. We treat both, together.
Specialized eating disorder centers often aren't set up to treat substance use at the same time — and general addiction treatment programs often aren't set up to treat bulimia. Our Las Vegas program is built specifically for that overlap: one team, one clinical plan, treating the bulimia, any substance use, and the underlying trauma or anxiety as one clinical picture, not three separate referrals.

Levels of care
Residential for bulimia itself. Outpatient for when it's co-occurring.
Primary bulimia treatment happens at the residential level — a dedicated villa at Corbett, typically 30 to 45 days. When bulimia occurs alongside substance use, PHP and IOP at Montessouri treat both together as one co-occurring program, not as standalone eating-disorder outpatient. If you're already stable and working with an outside provider for bulimia alone, our team will help you find the right fit, including a referral if that's the better match.

What treatment looks like
Evidence-based, dietitian-led, at every level of care.
CBT-ED (Enhanced CBT)
The gold-standard psychological intervention for bulimia — targets the thoughts and behaviors that drive the binge-purge cycle.
DBT
Targets the emotional dysregulation and distress-tolerance deficits that often underlie binge-purge patterns.
Mindfulness
Present-moment awareness practices that build tolerance for binge and purge urges, without avoidance.
EMDR
Trauma processing available in individual sessions — bulimia and trauma are frequently co-occurring.
Meal Support
Staff-supported meals at every level of care — structured, non-punitive eating that helps interrupt the binge-purge cycle.
Nutrition Psychoeducation
Dietitian-led education on how the body and brain interact with food, separating fear-based beliefs from physiology.
Family Therapy
Family therapy at Corbett residential; a weekly virtual family support group at Montessouri. Family contact is clinical, not incidental.
Medication Management
Psychiatric and medical evaluation on admission, with medication management throughout at every level of care.

Getting the right care
We'll help you find the right starting point — even if it's not with us first.
This program treats adults 18 and older. If you're a parent or caregiver worried about a teenager, we're not able to treat adolescent eating disorders here — but call us anyway. We'll talk through what you're seeing and help point you toward care that's appropriate for their age.
The binge-purge cycle can carry real medical risk to the heart and electrolyte balance, and our team takes that seriously from the first call. We assess the right starting point for every person we talk to — and if someone needs medical stabilization before eating disorder treatment, we'll say so directly and help arrange that next step, rather than admitting someone before it's safe to do so.
We're proud to serve veterans and active-duty service members, including through TRICARE, with extended lengths of stay when clinically appropriate.
Common questions
Questions about bulimia treatment
Anything not answered here, ask on the call. There is no obligation.
(866) 461-3339- Do you treat bulimia and addiction at the same time?
- Yes. Most people who come to us for bulimia are also struggling with alcohol or drug use, and our Las Vegas program is built to treat both together rather than sending you to two separate places. Treating an eating disorder and a substance use disorder at the same time — along with any underlying trauma, anxiety, or depression — gives you a much stronger foundation for lasting recovery. Our clinical team coordinates your therapy, nutrition, and medical care as one integrated plan.
- What does bulimia treatment actually involve?
- Bulimia treatment at Virtue combines evidence-based therapy, nutrition support, and medical monitoring to help you interrupt the binge-purge cycle and rebuild a healthier relationship with food. You'll work with licensed therapists using approaches like enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-E) and DBT, meet with a registered dietitian for meal support and nutrition counseling, and receive medical oversight to keep you safe throughout recovery. Care is individualized — your plan is built around your history, your goals, and any co-occurring conditions.
- Do you offer outpatient (PHP or IOP) treatment for bulimia?
- Yes, for people whose bulimia occurs alongside substance use. Our Las Vegas partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs treat eating disorders as part of co-occurring care — meaning they're a strong fit when you're managing both an eating disorder and alcohol or drug use, or stepping down from residential treatment. For a primary eating disorder on its own, our dedicated eating disorder program is residential; our team will talk through your situation and help you find the right level of care.
- What levels of care do you offer for bulimia?
- Our dedicated eating disorder program in Las Vegas is residential (inpatient), providing 24/7 care in a private-room setting. For clients whose bulimia co-occurs with substance use, we also offer partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) that address both conditions together. If detox from alcohol or drugs is needed first, we provide medically monitored withdrawal management before treatment begins.
- Do you treat teenagers with bulimia?
- Our eating disorder program treats adults 18 and older. If you're seeking care for a teen with bulimia, we understand how urgent and frightening that is, and while we can't treat adolescents in this program, we're glad to help you find appropriate adolescent eating disorder care. Please call us and our team will help point you in the right direction.
- Is bulimia dangerous to your health?
- Bulimia can have serious effects on the body, which is why medical monitoring is a core part of treatment. The repeated binge-purge cycle can affect the heart, electrolytes, digestive system, and teeth, and these risks are one reason professional treatment matters rather than trying to recover alone. At Virtue, our 24/7 nursing team and medical providers monitor your health throughout care and help arrange a higher level of medical support first if that's what you need to be safe.
- Does insurance cover bulimia treatment?
- Most commercial and PPO insurance plans provide coverage for medically necessary eating disorder treatment, though the details depend on your specific plan. We work with major carriers and also accept TRICARE and TriWest for veterans and military families. The easiest way to know exactly what your plan covers is a free, confidential insurance verification — we'll check your benefits and walk you through your options with no obligation.
- Can bulimia and substance use be treated in the same program?
- Yes — this is one of the things that sets Virtue apart. Because roughly nine out of ten people who reach out to us for bulimia are also dealing with substance use, our program is specifically designed to treat co-occurring eating disorders and addiction together in one place. You won't have to choose which condition to address first or coordinate between separate facilities — one integrated team treats the whole picture.
