Yes, You Can Get Treatment Together

Getting sober is hard enough without adding the fear of doing it apart from the person you love. Virtue accepts couples — spouses, partners, fiancés, boyfriends and girlfriends — and can admit both of you at the same time.

Here's what that looks like day to day: you'll each go through treatment as an individual, in your own room, with your own care team and your own group sessions. Separate housing is policy, not something we're able to change on a case-by-case basis — and it's not a downside so much as what makes the individual work possible for each of you.

Some couples worry that means they won't see each other at all. In practice, you'll likely cross paths during shared parts of the day — meals, breaks, common areas — though frequency isn't guaranteed and isn't the focus of treatment. Ask admissions for the specifics at the location you're considering.

What you can expect

  • Same-time admission for you and your partner
  • Separate housing, individualized treatment for each of you
  • Time together during shared parts of the day — not guaranteed
  • Case-by-case help if only one of you has insurance

Important to know

This isn't a joint "couples therapy" program — you'll each be in your own individual treatment track. Couples admission is currently offered at our Sun City West, Arizona location only. Call admissions and they will walk you both through what that involves.

Where Couples Treatment Is Available

Couples admission is currently offered at one Arizona location.

Sun City West, AZ

Detox only

Medically supervised withdrawal management with 24/7 RN coverage, typically lasting 7–10 days depending on substance and acuity. Sun City West does not offer residential treatment on-site — once detox is complete, our team helps connect you with appropriate residential care in the Arizona community.

Insurance & Getting Started

We accept most major commercial insurance plans. Our admissions team verifies your specific benefits before you commit to anything — and does the same for your partner.

It's common for one partner to have coverage while the other doesn't. Admissions handles this case by case, with options that can include private pay or help identifying an alternate placement, so you're not stuck choosing between going it alone or not going at all.

(866) 461-3339
Can my partner and I get treatment at the same time?
Yes. Virtue accepts couples — spouses, partners, fiancés — and can admit both of you at the same time. Not every location can do this, so call admissions and they'll tell you which one fits your situation.
Will we be housed together, or see each other during treatment?
You'll be housed separately, in your own room, as part of each person's individual treatment. That's by policy, not something we can change per couple. You'll likely cross paths during shared parts of the day — meals, breaks, common areas — but frequent or guaranteed contact isn't the focus of treatment. Some couples find this disappointing at first; most tell us afterward that having their own space made it easier to focus on their own recovery.
Is this couples therapy?
No — it's not a joint couples-therapy program. Each of you goes through your own individual treatment track, with your own care team and your own group sessions, at the same facility and around the same time.
What if only one of us has insurance?
That comes up often, and admissions handles it case by case. Options can include private pay for the partner without coverage or help identifying an alternate placement — ask directly about your specific situation.
Which locations accept couples?
Couples admission is currently available at our Sun City West, Arizona location.
What level of care is available for couples?
Sun City West is a detox-only facility — medically supervised withdrawal management for both of you. Once detox is complete, our team helps connect you both with appropriate residential care in the Arizona community so you have a real next step, together or separately depending on what each of you needs.
Is it co-ed?
Men and women are housed in separate units regardless of couple status — that's standard across the facility, not specific to couples. Admissions can explain what the day-to-day layout looks like at each location.

Ready to Start Together?

Our admissions team will answer honestly — about availability for both of you, about what daily contact looks like, and about insurance. No pressure, no overselling.
