Where We Stand
Substance use doesn't discriminate, and neither does our admissions process. LGBTQIA+ clients are welcomed into treatment at every Virtue location, evaluated on the same clinical basis as every other client, and treated by staff who are expected to provide respectful, nondiscriminatory care throughout.
Our clinical model — trauma-informed therapy, CBT, DBT, individual counseling, and process groups — isn't built as a separate LGBTQIA+-specific curriculum. It's the same evidence-based model used with every client, and it's applied with the same respect and clinical rigor regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
We'd rather describe that plainly than dress it up. If dedicated LGBTQIA+ programming is specifically what you're looking for, ask admissions directly — they'll tell you what's currently available so you can make an informed decision.

Virtue does not currently operate a dedicated LGBTQIA+ treatment track, LGBTQIA+-specific therapy groups, or specialized LGBTQIA+ staff certifications. If that kind of dedicated programming is what you need, tell admissions up front — they'll be direct with you about fit and can help you look at other options if we're not it.

- Yes. Virtue admits and treats LGBTQIA+ clients on the same basis as every other client — nondiscriminatory intake, nondiscriminatory care, and a clinical team that treats your substance use disorder without regard to sexual orientation or gender identity. If you're not sure what that looks like in practice, ask your admissions coordinator directly — they'll give you a straight answer.
- Do you have LGBTQIA+-specific therapy groups or a dedicated track?
- Not currently as a standalone, dedicated program. Our clinical model — trauma-informed CBT, DBT, individual therapy, and process groups — is used with every client, including LGBTQIA+ clients, and clinicians are expected to provide affirming, respectful care within that model. If you're specifically looking for dedicated LGBTQIA+ programming, tell admissions that up front — we'd rather tell you honestly what's currently available than let you assume something that isn't there yet.
- Will I be treated differently because of my sexual orientation or gender identity?
- No. Nondiscrimination applies to admissions, clinical care, and how staff are expected to treat every client. If you ever feel that isn't happening, your case manager and clinical leadership are the people to raise it with directly.
- Is treatment mixed-gender?
- Yes — programming is mixed-gender across all locations, with occasional single-gender process groups depending on site and clinical need. Ask your admissions coordinator about the specific structure at the location you're considering.
- Is treatment covered by insurance?
- In most cases, yes. Most commercial and PPO plans provide coverage. Our admissions team verifies your specific benefits before you commit to anything, regardless of the reason you're calling.
