When Is Medical Detox Necessary?

Abruptly stopping certain substances can be medically dangerous. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal can cause seizures. Opioid withdrawal, while rarely life-threatening, is intensely uncomfortable and frequently leads to relapse without medical support. Stimulant and poly-substance withdrawal carry their own risks — particularly for people with co-occurring mental health conditions.

Medical detox exists to manage these risks. With the right clinical oversight, withdrawal becomes safer, more tolerable, and the foundation for lasting recovery — not just a bridge you survive.

If you’re unsure whether you or your loved one needs medical detox, call us. Our admissions team can help you understand what level of care makes sense.

How Medical Detox Works at Our Houston Center

Around-the-Clock Medical Supervision

Your safety is the priority from the moment you arrive. Our facility maintains 24/7 registered nurse coverage on rotating 12-hour shifts, with a Director of Nursing on-site Monday through Friday. Every detox client is assessed by a medical provider within 24 hours of admission and seen daily until detox is complete — with more frequent check-ins if your condition warrants it.

Individualized Clinical Assessment

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to withdrawal management. Your detox protocol is built around your medical history, substance use history, current presentation, and withdrawal symptoms as they develop. Medication-assisted support is available where appropriate to reduce discomfort and minimize risk.

A Structured Day That Supports Stability

Detox is not just a medical process; it’s the beginning of clinical engagement. During your stay, you’ll participate in daily programming designed to begin addressing the psychological and behavioral dimensions of addiction, such as drug & alcohol education, group therapy, and education around infectious diseases related to drug use. All meals are provided, and vital signs and medications are monitored on a scheduled basis throughout the day

We Accept Major Insurance

We work with most major commercial insurance plans. Our admissions team verifies benefits quickly, typically within minutes once your information is received, so insurance questions don’t delay your access to care. Medicaid is not accepted at this location.

Admissions are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including walk-ins. If you arrive without a scheduled intake, we’re prepared for you
